Very few things can be as frustrating as having to deal with a dog constantly barking. While barking is part of the anatomy of a dog, many dogs simply bark for absolutely no reason. However, there might also be additional issues that could lead to your dog barking. You will need to keep an eye out for barking. In this article we will discuss which dog breeds bark the least.

For people living in an apartment, a dog that does not bark too much is a blessing. You don’t want to constantly hassle your neighbors with a dog that does not want to be quiet. Fortunately, there are a few dogs that don’t bark as often and some of them are the better option when you are looking for a new pet for your home.

If you are invested in a dog that does not bark too much, you should continue reading. We have identified some dogs that bark the least and should offer you a quiet living space around your home. Keep in mind that it is like dogs to bark, and some of them will still have the occasional bark when something startles them.

8 Dog Breeds Bark The Least

Finding a peaceful puppy can be hard for many people. However, dogs are similar to humans, and some of them just love being vocal. Depending on the activity of your pet, it could lead to them barking less or more frequently. Fortunately, we have identified some of the best dog breeds that don’t like being as vocal:

1. Bernese Mountain Dog

If you are looking for a dog that loves working and being active, the Bernese Mountain Dog is one of the ideal options for you to consider. These dogs have an even-tempered nature, and they love playing, without making a sound.

You should keep in mind that part of their nature is playing favorites. While the dog will be a good family dog, they tend to get attached to one person. These dogs might constantly follow and want to be with the one person they are attached to.

2. French Bulldog

The French Bulldog is one of the best pets when it comes to a calm temperament. Yes, these dogs can be large, but they enjoy the attention, and they are perfect for traveling. Many celebrities love them for the calm temperament they exert, and they don’t require too much exercise either.

The French Bulldog is a happy dog, and it has a playful nature. They might be slightly violent when playing, but this does not manifest as barking. It is a wonderful companion for those living in apartments and looking for a happy pet.

3. English Bulldog

Much like the French Bulldog, the English Bulldog has a calm demeanor and prefers slouching on the sofa over walking. While they love playing, they do not manifest their playfulness in barking. However, they might have the occasional bark when they feel startled and want to play. This does not happen too often, which makes them the perfect indoor pets for apartments.

4. Borzoi

The Borzoi Dog is a majestic pet, and it is one of the fastest dogs you can find. They have a speed of around 40 MPH, and they love running outside. According to the American Kennel Club, these dogs are labeled as majestic and they have almost cat-like features. They love attention, and they will be great companions.

Keep in mind that these dogs do need plenty of stimulation, and they might be frustrated if you never take them for a walk. Fortunately, they are not known to have the best stamina.

5. Rhodesian Ridgeback

The Rhodesian Ridgeback is a wonderful family pet that does not like to be too loud. These hounds are powerful and slightly more aggressive than the others dogs on the list so far. However, they make the perfect protection dogs and love to play outside. Fortunately, they are quiet and they don’t specifically love barking.

If you are looking for a protector and a dog that will keep you and your family safe, the Rhodesian Ridgeback is one of the ideal pets that you can find.

6. Great Dane

The Great Dane is the definition of being a gentle giant, and these dogs have a calm demeanor with a large body. Great Danes often think they are small puppies, and they love to be treated as such. However, they will protect their home with their slight aggression if their size is not enough of a deterrent.

You rarely hear of a Great Dane being a nuisance in the neighborhood. Most people adore these dogs, and others fear them for their enormous size. However, the Great Dane is the perfect indoor companion.

7. Pug

Some love them, and others hate them, but the Pug is one of the calmest, and most quiet dogs you could own. The dog is an ideal house dog and has a quiet nature about them. While they might be curious when it comes to their surroundings, the Pug will not bark at anything and they tend to be admirers of the world around them.

8. Basenji

A true dog breeds bark the laest and finds new ways to express itself is something people can only dream about. However, the Basenji is the perfect dog, and is labeled the “Barkless Dog”. These dogs do express themselves with sound, but the sound is often related to a yodel or a chortle.

While they are active dogs, they need to spend some time outdoors. These dogs are the perfect indoor companions as well. One downside is if something is wrong, they might not alert you to the issue and explore it.

Wrap-Up

Which Dog Breeds Bark The Least? A dog that never barks is something that people can dream about. However, people can’t go through one day without saying anything. This means that the bark on dogs also needs to be respected. Excessive barking is an issue, but most of the dogs on this list won’t keep you up at night, and you will never have any real complaints from the neighbors.
