Presa Canario

You cannot have Presa canario in Alabama, Georgia, Idaho, Nebraska, Missouri, Louisiana, Kansas, and a few other states. A good thing is that you can keep this dog in more states than other dogs from above but the limitations are still massive.

The incident in San Francisco in 2001 is one of the reasons why this dog breed is not something you can have in the bigger part of the United States. However, it is a rare breed so most people don’t even know about it.

Doberman Pinscher

Doberman pinscher is a dog breed that most states don’t like. You cannot have one if you like in Wisconsin, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Nebraska, Montana, Missouri, and a few other states. 

Some say that the reason for the ban is political while others believe these are dangerous and big dogs hence most people will try to avoid them. Also, some dog owners have a hard time controlling their dogs like Doberman pinscher which makes things worse.

Chow Chow

Chow Chow is not a dog breed you can have if you are a resident of South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Louisiana, Missouri, and a few more states. It is not one of the dog breeds that most states will ban but it is close enough. 

People believe that these dogs have unpredictable behavior and can be aggressive. As such the ban is still active. Nevertheless, for most people around the world, these dogs look like big teddy bears and they are great pets, if you train and socialize them from the beginning.

American Bulldog

American bulldog is a dog breed you cannot have in Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Texas, Washington, West Virginia, Arkansas, Colorado, Nebraska, and Missouri. Luckily these are all the states that ban the dog breed. 

Believe it or not, this dog breed is on the list due to the breeders and not the dogs. Yes, some people believe that American bulldog breeders are bad people and as such, they can offer dogs that are not safe to other people.
