There is something special about dog breeds with long ears. They look spectacular and they are different from all other dogs. But, which dog to adopt? Here we will reveal all dog breeds with long ears that are popular and deserve the spot on our list. Did you know that most dogs with long ears are bred for hunting? As such, you will want to provide them the lifestyle they require.

English Cocker Spaniels is one of the dog breeds with long ears that is very popular. Keep in mind that American Cocker Spaniel have long ears as well. There are some differences though. The popularity is present due to several reasons. These are ideal pets. They love long walks. They love to play with their owners and they have pleasant and friendly personalities. If you want to play fetch with your dog, this is a breed to adopt right now.

Additional advantages include simplicity when it comes to training. You can train one easily. They have a lot of energy and they can keep up with kids. Yes, they love kids as well which makes them superb family dogs.

Black and Tan Coonhound have long ears and long snouts. These dogs are commonly known as Bloodhound rivals. Booth has a very powerful sense of smell and can pick up trails easily. You probably won’t see a lot of these pets around in the city. They are usually hunting dogs hence you can see them accompanied by a hunter.

The howling and barking are both very loud and sound impressive. Of course, they love to play and they need to do that. If you keep one in an apartment, he will easily gain weight and due to loud barking/howling, your neighbors will hate you.

Bloodhound dogs may look like a threat or dangerous animals. But, they are not. These dogs are commonly part of search and rescue missions. They have large bodies and can reach a weight of 90 pounds. They have long ears as well. The barking sound is loud and honestly sounds terrifying.

However, if we take a deeper look at the breed, we can see that they are calm and gentle giants. They are especially calm with dogs which can be a huge advantage for families. If you want to tone, make sure to provide him a lot of room to walk and play. They can gain weight easily if they don’t have the area to walk around and run. In addition, the breed does require food training.

English Springer Spaniel

English Springer Spaniel are bit special dogs. Yes, they have long and fluffy ears and they are hunting dogs as most of these breeds are. An interesting fact is that there are two main variations. You can adopt a dog who comes from the working line. They have a lot of energy and they are great pets. A dog from the showing line is not a working dog, obviously and he will need a lot more grooming. It is up to you to decide.

One issue here is that some dogs of this breed can be aggressive. You will need to find a professional breeder who knows what he is doing and can help you eliminate this issue. As such, always avoid backyard breeding if you want a proper and calm English Springer Spaniel.

Afghan Hound

These are aristocratic dogs so they are truly spectacular. The hair does come with the need for more grooming than you may believe. Daily brushing is mandatory. In addition, these dogs are some of the fastest pets in the world.
