Some dogs are simply the best pets you can have. Others are good but they do have a lot of issues. Schnauzers are those dogs. Yes, they have advantages but they have a lot of disadvantages as well. This made them some of the worst dogs to keep in the world. Why are schnauzers the worst dogs? Now you will see why.

10 Reasons Why Schnauzers Are The Worst Dogs

1. They Can Be Very Aggressive

These dogs have tons of energy they need to control. Some will use it for running and playing. Others will use it to fuel their aggression. Why are schnauzers the worst dogs in the world? Simply because they can get extremely aggressive which is a huge issue nowadays.

We must add that schnauzers are not extremely aggressive dogs in general. For instance, terriers are more aggressive. But schnauzers can become very aggressive easily and there is no easy way to predict this. After all, they are good at protecting farms and houses due to this aggression.

2. They Need A Lot Of Exercises

Schnauzers are dogs that lived on farms hence they are used to hard work. Nature gives them a lot of energy. This energy can be an issue these days. This simply means that they need a lot of exercises. You will have to provide this to them or they won’t be happy dogs. It is a common thing that a schnauzer will destroy the house when the owner is not there.

Puppies and adult dogs can do this. It is also common for them to get easily bored. Unless you can provide a lot of physical activity to your schnauzer, don’t adopt one.

3. Schnauzers Will Bark More Than Other Dogs

If you live in an apartment and you are looking for a quiet and relaxed dog, a schnauzer is not for you. They bark. They bark more than almost any other breed. As you can guess, this makes them hard to keep in small apartments and even problematic for people with houses. You need a farm if you want to keep one and don’t worry about his barking.

4. They Need More Grooming Than You Can Imagine

This dog breed is well-known for the amount of grooming they need. In a nutshell, they need more grooming than most other dogs. Standard grooming is something owners must perform every 4-6 weeks on a regular basis.

If you fail to do this, their fur will become knotted. This process can be expensive and will require a lot of time. In other words, you will have to invest a lot of time and effort into making your schnauzer look nice. This makes the breed not great for people who want a dog with as little maintenance as possible.

5. Schnauzers Are Not Good With Kids

For some of you, this is going to be the main issue and the main reason why you will never adopt one. Schnauzers are not good dogs with children and they shouldn’t be left alone with a kid. They have this temper that makes them not ideal for being around kids.

6. Schnauzers Are Not Ideal To Keep With Other Dogs

If you are one of those owners who like keeping as many dogs as possible, schnauzers are not great. They don’t get along well with other dogs. Barking, aggression, fighting and so much more are common issues here. Those of you who have a dog already will have to look at other dog breeds.

7. Extremely Strong Will

This issue makes schnauzers hard to train and keep. Yes, you can train one. Yes, you can have a great relationship with him. But you will need a lot of time and effort to achieve this. You will also have complications and all sorts of problems during the process. If we add aggression and extreme levels of energy, we can see the complexity of this problem.

8. They Hate To Cuddle With Their Owners

This doesn’t affect all schnauzers but affects most. They just don’t like to cuddle. Now, if we know that most owners who like this breed want to cuddle with their dogs, we can see the issue. As such, they are more common for owners who need schnauzers as a working dog or due to a specific purpose and who don’t want to cuddle with their pet.

9. They Hate A Lot Of Things

First of all, this is not one reason but a combination of many different ones. Schnauzers hate a lot of things which generally makes them hard to keep. They have to take a bath, to be left inside or outside. schnauzers hate spending time alone.

They hate grooming, training and so much more. As you can assume, this makes them hard and complicated pets. Honestly, there are more things they hate than they love to do. The worst thing here is the fact you don’t want to upset the schnauzer. They can get aggressive and they can be very bad dogs when they want that.

10. They Don’t Like When Someone Picks Them Up

Schnauzers are small dogs hence you can easily pick one and cuddle. This is the worst thing you can do. They absolutely hate this. This is one of those dog breeds that liked to be on its feet, all the time, period. For some of you, this can be a huge issue. They are just not the type of dog who likes to cuddle and spend time in the hands of the owner.

The Final Word

Why are schnauzers the worst dogs for most dog owners? Well, there are many reasons. In a nutshell, they are hard dogs to keep. They need their space, their time and they like doing things in their own way. If you have a farm and a lot of space, they can be tolerable and used as work dogs. If you live in an apartment and have children or other pets, this is the worst dog breed you can keep in your life.
