Imagine a cute canvas hanging in the main hall, with you and your dog happy. It will make you smile every time you pass by that place. What’s better than taking a selfie with your best friend (dog)? Pet lovers are often fond of taking pictures with their pets. It becomes difficult to take a picture if you’ve got no photographer nearby. How about you take a selfie with them? You can capture the special moments and cherish them for the rest of your life.

If your last selfie combo ended in a blurry picture, we have explained the art of taking a great selfie with your pooch.

Getting Your Pet Ready For The Selfie

Most dogs are familiar with smartphones, as they often see their owners using them. But the real thing is taking a picture with the selfie camera. And guess what? Dogs don’t like things to get so close to their face. So, be prepared once you plan to do this cute act.

First of all, never force the four-legged friends to pose if they feel uncomfortable or seem to be worried about the camera near their face. It’s better not take a selfie with such dogs.

If you don’t find any weird behavior, teach your dog to sit close to you, just like they sit in any other place. Make them look forward so that you can get the best posture for a perfect selfie. A straight position helps you take a clear and better picture.

How To Make The Dog Sit Close To You?

    • Bribe them with their favourite treats while using the sit command.
    • If they fail to sit, position the treat above their head to align their body.
    • Once the dog starts following your directions, reward them with a few treats.
    • Continue practising the same process until they get used to sitting next to you with a straight head.
    • Slowly lower your head to the level of their head so that the front camera can capture both of you.
    • If the dogs are happy posing and sitting in this position, take out your smartphone and get ready for the click.

A step-by-step training programme will help you take a selfie with the dog, no matter where you go.

5 Awesome Tips for Taking Selfies with the Dogs

  1. Play With Them

Before you take out your phone for a cute selfie, play with them. A session of 10-20 minutes will allow the dog to sit and relax for some time allowing you to take a quick selfie. The play session ensures that the dog is pretty much exhausted and needs some time to regain the energy.

  1. Prefer The Dog’s Comfort Zone

If the dog is not posing in your desired direction, do not force them to do so. The best way is to sit in the direction where the dog sits easily and then take the selfie. In short, to get the best results, you might have to accept your dog’s will.

  1. Treats Play An Important Role

Remember how your parents gave you candies when they wanted you to do something they wanted? The same is with furry animals. Introducing your dog’s favorite treat can definitely work for you. It is a fact that dogs look extraordinarily cute when sniffing for treats. That’s picture-perfect. Isn’t it?

  1. Natural But Soft Light

Too bright or too dull might not be great for taking selfies with pets. Natural light, especially when it is the golden hour, works for most dogs. Pets are usually comfortable giving poses just before sunrise or right after sunset.

If you wish to take a selfie inside the house, make sure the light does not produce a flash that can scare the canine companions.

  1. Simple Background

If you are planning for a fantastic duo, try using a plain background. Not only it makes the selfie appealing, but makes your social media friends, WOW!

A quick tip: Use a light-colored background if you own a dark-furred dog and for light furry friends, use a dark-colored background.

Bonus Tip!

Dogs aren’t humans, so it takes a lot of time and effort to make them learn to pose for a selfie. Many owners fail to show patience during the process, but those who are patient, have some of the most memorable selfies hanging on the walls, in the phone’s gallery, and in their hearts. So, patience is the key to a successful selfie with the dog.
